James Washington  Johnson ⁴( William Johnson ³, Washington Johnson   ², James Johnson ¹ ) was born December 1849 in Kentucky, and died March 1928 in Missouri, Douglas County, buried Inman Cemetery.⁴  He married (1) Susan M. Chaney, daughter of  Marcus Chaney  and Betts Riley.  He married (2) Alice Vines, April 15, 1906 in Douglas County Missouri.⁹

Children of James Washington Johnson and Susan Chaney are:

                  i.         John W. Johnson , born 1870 in Missouri.   He married Susan Collins.

My Line     ii.         Granville "Grant" Johnson,  born October 1873 in Missouri; died circa 1908 in
                             Arkansas, Izard County, buried Jones/Conrad Cemetery.  He married Laura Ann Jones,
                              March 22, 1894 in Engle, Izard County Arkansas.

                iii.        James W. "Jim" Johnson,  was  born 1875 in Missouri.  He married Dora S Collins.

                iv.         Marcus I. Johnson ⁵, born 1878 in Missouri.

                 v.          Andy Johnson, born April 1882; died before 1910 in Izard County
                             Arkansas, buried Jones/Conrad Cemetery⁶.  He married Mittie Jones
                             July 23, 1902 in Izard County Arkansas.

                 vi.        Riley Johnson, was born November 11, 1884 in Missouri, and died circa August 1962 in
                             Missouri.  He married  Cora Davis.

                vii.        Rosa Bell Johnson, born March 17, 1888; died September 17, 1964 in
                             Douglas County Missouri, Inman Cemetery⁷.  She married Shelt Collins.

                viii.       Elzora Johnson⁸, born October 28, 1890 in Willow Springs, Douglas
                             County Missouri; died November 03, 1990 in Boswell, Izard County
                             Arkansas, buried Robinson Cemetery.  She married Marshal Robert
                             Byler July 12, 1908 in Melbourne, Izard County  Arkansas.

Children of James Johnson and Alice Vines are:

                    i.       Cordelia Johnson, born 1906 in Missouri.
                   ii.       Ethel Johnson, born 1910 in Missouri.
                  iii.       Ruthie Johnson, born 1912 in Missouri.

James Washington Johnson is listed in the 1880 Douglas County Missouri Census as Washington Johnson, 30, along with wife Susan M, 28,  children: John W, 10, Granvil, 7,  James W,  5,  Marcus I,  2.

He is listed in the 1900 Douglas County Missouri Census, Richland Township, hh 312/314 as Wash Johnson, Aug 1848, 51, with wife, Susan, Feb 1851, 49, and children:  Andy, Apr 1882, 18; Riley, Nov 1884, 15;  Rose, Mar 1888, 12; Zora, Oct 1890, 9.   Susan is shown to be the mother of 11 children, 8 living.  I am not sure about the names of the other 3 children.

He is listed in the 1910 Douglas County Missouri Census as Washington Johnson, 59, M2, 3 yrs, KY, KY, KY, wife, Alice, 25, M1, 3 yrs, 2 children, AR, MO, MO, Cordia, 3, MO, KY, AR,  Ethel, 1 6/12, MO, KY, AR.

He is listed in the 1920 Douglas County Missouri Census as James W, 71, with wife, Alice, 37, and children:  Cordelia, 14, Ethel, 10, Ruthie, 8, Ellen A, 5.

He is listed on his death certificate (sent to me by Terri E) as James Washington Johnson, age 80 years 7 months at the time of his death.  The date of burial is shown to be March 9, 1928.

Their third son,  James "Jim",  and wife, Dora, and son Berton are listed in the 1900 Douglas County Census living next door to to them.  Their second son, Granville "Grant"  is living in Izard County Arkansas.
